Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal crash that occurred at 9400 Winkler Drive about 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday (August 3).
The suspect, Joshua Yante (H/m, 31), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 182nd State District Court. A photo of Yante is not available at this time.
The identity of the female victim, 30, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer J. Best reported:
Yante was driving a silver Nissan Versa eastbound on Winkler Drive when he failed to maintain a single lane and veered into oncoming traffic and struck a black Chevrolet Silverado in a head-on collision. Yante was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and his passenger was transported to Memorial Hermann Texas – Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and was not injured. The passenger in the Chevrolet was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Further investigation determined Yante was intoxicated and he was subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
