Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal auto-pedestrian crash at 7300 South Loop East (South 610 Loop East) service road about 9:55 p.m. on October 9.

The suspect, Vince Edward Turner (b/m, 39), is charged with failure to stop and render aid in the 230th State District Court.  A booking photo of Turner is attached to this news release.

The identity of the male victim, 59, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Benavidez and Officer D. Henley reported:

The victim was crossing the South Loop East service road, in a crosswalk, when he was struck by a black Chevrolet Tahoe traveling westbound.  The driver did not stop and fled the scene.  A preliminary investigation determined the Tahoe had the green light.  Paramedics transported the victim to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.  Doctors pronounced him deceased on October 17.
