Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 7100 South Gessner Road

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 7100 South Gessner Road about 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday (March 3).

The suspect, Abigail Annette Johnson (b/f, 25), is charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter in the 209th State District Court.  A booking photo of Johnson is attached to this news release.

The identity of the male and female victims are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer C. Loring reported:

The driver of a red Kia, traveling westbound on Neff Street, left a stop sign at the intersection of South Gessner and attempted to turn left.  Suspect Johnson was driving a gold Ford Expedition northbound on South Gessner, possibly at a high rate of speed, when her vehicle struck the Kia.  The Kia was pushed across the median and struck a silver Toyota Corolla traveling southbound on South Gessner.  The Ford spun and also struck the Corolla.

The male driver and female passenger of the Kia were pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnson was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in an unknown condition.  She was determined to be intoxicated and subsequently charged for her role in the crash.  The driver of the Corolla was not injured.
