Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal crash that occurred at 6100 Westheimer Road about 9:20 p.m. on Sunday (March 27).
The suspect, Donovan Donte Harris, 27, is charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter in the 338th State District Court and is charged with a second count of intoxication manslaughter in the 339th State District Court. A booking photo of Harris is attached to this news release.
The identities of a deceased male and female are pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Louangpho reported:
Harris was driving a black BMW 328i at a high rate of speed westbound at the above address when he struck two pedestrians (victims) who were crossing the street, not in a crosswalk. The victims, a husband and his wife, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Harris remained at the scene, however a passenger in his vehicle fled on foot. Further investigation determined Harris was intoxicated and he was arrested and charged.
