Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal crash that killed a man and injured a woman at 15000 Hempstead Road about 6:30 p.m. on Friday (April 15).
The suspect, Damian West, 21, is charged with murder and aggravated assault in the 351st State District Court. His booking photo is attached to this news release. He is accused in the death of Hoang Tran, 31. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Hall and Officer T. Riley reported: An HPD traffic enforcement officer observed a silver Dodge Charger driving erratically and violating traffic laws in the 2900 block of South Gessner Road and attempted to stop the driver. The driver of the Charger (West) failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. During the course of the pursuit, West ran a red light while traveling northbound at the above address and struck a white Toyota Camry. The Camry then struck a silver Toyota Rav4, a white GMC Sierra, and a white Chevrolet Silverado. Mr. Tran was driving the Camry. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene. A female passenger, 31, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The occupants in the other vehicles struck were not seriously injured and were treated at the scene. West was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released. He was then charged for his role in the incident.Damian West (Arrested)
