Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in a fatal crash that occurred at 11800 Chimney Rock Road about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 19).
The suspect, Wendy Kaory Ugarte Morales (H/m, 22), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 180th State District Court. A booking photo of Morales is attached to this news release.
The identity of the female victim, 25, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer T. Phillips reported:
Morales was driving a black Mercury Mariner southbound at the above address when she disregarded a traffic signal, ran a red light and struck a gray Ford Fusion. The driver of the Ford was attempting to turn left from Gasmer onto Chimney Rock. Morales lost control of the Mercury and it rolled over. The front passenger (victim) in the Mercury was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Ford were transported to Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center in critical, but stable conditions.
Morales was found to be intoxicated and arrested and charged for her role in the crash.
