Storage Structure Fire in The Spring Branch Central Area

WHAT: Storage structure fire.

WHEN: March 18, 2024, at 12:18 p.m.

WHERE: 1600 block of Blalock Rd. 77080.

INJURIES: One civilian transported to the hospital.

PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.

DAMAGE: $20,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Unintentional.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find a small storage unit on fire and began fire control. They pulled the ceiling to check for hidden fires and checked the adjourning apartment for extension. The fire was extinguished with no extension found and the gas line to the structure was controlled. A civilian had struck the storage building, a fence, and several cars with his truck, causing the fire. The driver was evaluated on scene by HFD EMS and transported to the hospital. The Houston Police Department was notified. 35 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 60, 4, 5, 50, 38, 77, 78, 49, 57 and Hazmat 66.
