Retired Assistant Chief David Almaguer has been selected as the 2017 Houston Texans Star of Courage winner. The annual award recognizes peace officers, firefighters, and emergency medical first responders who show excellence in leadership, bravery, and commitment to Houston. Chief Almaguer received the most peer-nominations of all submitted, including HPD and HFD.
"We truly believe that he embodies the spirit of this award. It was evident in reading the submissions that he played a significant role in shaping the Houston EMS and that he was deeply respected and admired by his staff over the last 35 years," said Emily Bruss, Houston Texans Senior Foundation Manager.
Chief Almaguer will accept the award at the Texans regular season home opener on Sunday, September 10th against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Texans will also present a $10,000 check to The 100 Club in his name.
