WHAT: Residential garage fire.

WHERE: 7700 block of Sign St. 77489.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.

DAMAGE: $10,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find light smoke coming from a residential garage. The extinguished the fire and contained it to the washer. A breaker was tripped, and it appeared the fire started from an electrical short in the washer’s wiring. Crews removed the washer, and the resident was advised to have an electrician inspect and repair the issue. Firefighters from Stations 82, 59, 68, 80 and 24 responded to this incident.
