Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man near 4700 Bellfort and the wounding of another man at 5100 Northridge about 7:35 p.m. on Thursday (May 24).
The identity of the deceased male, 27, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The wounded male, 19, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Homicide Division Officers M. Barrow and J. Stroble reported:
Officers were called to the 5100 block of Northridge on reports that several shots were fired from a person(s) inside a black sedan. A male stated he was walking in the area when he was shot in the finger and chest. The suspects fled in the vehicle. Paramedics arrived and transported the victim to the hospital.
A short time later, a shooting occurred at a nearby intersection of 4700 Bellfort at Coffee. Witnesses stated that suspect(s) inside a black sedan were seen shooting toward an apartment complex at 5050 Sunflower. Unknown individuals in the complex were shooting toward the black sedan. A male inside the sedan was shot in the abdomen and pronounced dead at the scene.
The shootings are related. No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
