Investigation into Shooting at 900 North Loop West

Houston police are investigating a shooting that injured two children at 900 North Loop West (North Interstate Highway 610 West) about 6:55 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 22).

The victims – a girl, 9, and a boy, 6 months old – were transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers A. Alobadi and M.Althaus reported:

A family was traveling in its vehicle eastbound on the freeway at the above address when the adult female driver stated a car attempted to change lanes and almost struck her vehicle.  After the car almost struck her vehicle, the driver of the car slowed down next to the rear of the woman’s vehicle and fired several shots at her and her family.  The juvenile female was struck by either a bullet or shrapnel and the juvenile male sustained a cut on his forehead from glass.  Paramedics transported both children to the hospital for treatment.

A witness described the suspect as a black male with tattoos on his face, who had long hair with red streaks.  The male was driving a red, two-door car.
