Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 5000 West Bellfort Street that occured about 8:15 a.m. today (Oct. 13).
The male victim, 42, was transported to an area hospital.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives S. Hall and A. Johnson reported:
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and, upon arrival, found the victim had been shot in the leg and was transported to the hospital in stable condition. A wtiness stated he was driving on West Bellfort Street when he encountered a vehicle, described only as a white work van, driving recklessly. The witness stated the van almost made contact with his vehicle, so he honked his horn to avoid being struck. The suspect vehicle then drove in front of the witness until he stopped at a red light at Willowbend Street. At that point, the witness pulled alongside the suspect at the red light and the witness stated the suspect called out to him asking if they were okay and then brandished a handgun. The witness attempted to drive away and, as he fled, he heard gunshots. The witness then saw his passenger (victim) had been struck. The witness’ vehicle and the suspect’s vehicle collided before the suspect fled the scene.
