HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers M. Althaus and M. Combs reported:
A man, 21, and woman, 39, owned a puppy that went missing after a witness told the couple a neighbor had taken the animal. The couple confronted their neighbor (Gibson) who denied having the puppy.
Later, the couple observed a vehicle pull up to the back of Gibson’s home and saw Gibson loading the stolen puppy into a vehicle. When the couple retrieved their stolen puppy from the car, Gray assaulted the woman. At that time, Gibson retrieved a gun from his vehicle and threatened to shoot the couple. The couple’s family friend, who was on scene and has a license to carry a handgun, stated he feared for his and his friends’ lives when he fired his weapon and shot Gibson one time. Paramedics transported Gibson to an area hospital.
The investigation is continuing with no other charges filed in the case at this time.
