Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 2310 Crescent Park Drive about 9 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 11).
The victim, Gerry Manuel, 24, was treated at an area hospital and later released.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers B. Salazar and A. Williams reported:
Mr. Manuel is a commissioned security guard working at the apartment complex at the above address. He was doing routine checks on vacant units at the complex when he was confronted by an unknown suspect in #1811. The suspect exited a bedroom with a gun in his hand and shot Manuel in the stomach area. Manuel, who was wearing a bullet-proof vest, was not seriously injured. He was able to return fire, but did not strike the suspect. The suspect then fled the apartment complex on foot. Manuel called 911 and was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.
