Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 12600 Sandpiper Drive that occurred about 4 p.m. on Sunday (August 8).
The victim, James Shield, 19, was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer A. Alobaidi reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at 12945 South Post Oak Road and learned Mr. Shield had been shot while playing basketball at a local park.
A preliminary investigation determined Shield and a witness were at a park at 12600 Sandpiper Drive and saw a third party argument. As Shield and the witness left the park, they were shot at as they were parked next to the the other party’s vehicle in the parking lot. Shield was struck by the gunfire as the witness tried to drive away from the shooting. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Shield to the hospital.
At this time, there is no known suspect description.
