Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 7701 West Montgomery Road about 3:10 a.m. on Saturday (February 16).
The victim, Davonte Rashed White, 19, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The second victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Brady and M. Casso reported:
Two groups of men were involved in a shooting at a gas station at the above address. Evidence indicates a gold Chevrolet HHR pulled into the parking lot, followed by a dark-colored, four-door car. One male occupant of the dark-colored car got out, approached the HHR, and fired shots into the vehicle, striking two rear seat passengers. It appears one of the HHR’s occupants returned fire, but it is unknown if the initial shooter was struck. Both vehicles fled the scene.
The driver of the HHR then drove to a nearby fire station and dropped off both wounded men, who were then transported to a hospital.
The occupants of the HHR were located and have given statements to police.
Currently, there are no charges in this case, as the investigation is continuing.
Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
