| Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6503 Hogue Street about 5:35 p.m. on Thursday (September 17).
The identity of the victim, 72, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Clark and M. Nicotra reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a residence at the above address after Houston Fire Department (HFD) emergency personnel responded to a house fire and found the victim unresponsive in the living room. He had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced the man deceased.
Witnesses reported seeing smoke coming from the house and immediately called 9-1-1.
HPD homicide detectives and HFD arson investigators are conducting the investigation.
