Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 4825 Beechaven Street about 1:45 a.m. today (Dec. 9).
The identity of the victim, 30, is pending verification by the Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office. HPD Homicide Division Detectives S. Overstreet and B. Stephens reported: Officers were dispatched to a shooting call to the residence at the above address and found the victim unresponsive near the front door of the home. The officers performed CPR on the man until Houston Fire Department paramedics and pronounced the victim deceased. The victim’s girlfriend was in a bedroom with her children when the victim told her that suspects were attempting to steal her vehicle in the driveway. The victim retrieved a gun and opened the front door to confront the suspects. At that time, he was shot at least one time. The victim managed to return fire at the suspects. It is unknown if any of them was hit as they fled the scene in an unknown direction.
