Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 2101 Hayes Road

The fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 2101 Hayes Road about 6:40 a.m. on Sunday (February 6) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased male, 36, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Sergeant A. Lopez and Detective N. Sharp reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found the male lying in the parking lot. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased. A female, later identified as the shooter, remained at the scene and provided a statement to officers.

The female stated she had an argument with the male, her boyfriend, while inside her apartment. She stated he left the apartment but then tried to get back into the apartment by breaking a window. In fear for her life, the female retrieved a gun and ran out the front door. The male gave chase and the female then discharged her weapon at the male.

The investigation will be referred to the Harris County grand gury. At this time the department does not believe there is a continuous threat to the general public.
