The fatal shooting of a man at 1303 Gears Road that occurred about 7:35 a.m. on Thursday (February 11) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The male shooter was not injured in the incident.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Persad and A. Grimes reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a disturbance with a weapon call at an apartment complex at the above address and detained the shooter, who cooperated with officers at the scene. A male with multiple gunshot wounds was located lying in the walkway between buildings. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the male to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest where he was pronounced deceased.
Further investigation determined the male and the shooter got into an argument, during which the male left and retrieved a firearm which he displayed to the shooter. The shooter, while on his property, then discharged his own weapon several times, striking the male.
