Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 13001 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) service road #122 about 2:15 a.m. today (May 29).
The victim, Ernest Smith, 39, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to an assault call at a motel at the above address. Upon arrival, they found Houston Fire Department paramedics treating Mr. Smith prior to taking him to a hospital.
Witnesses reported hearing arguing and then seeing Smith and two unknown suspects fighting. During the altercation, Smith was shot. The suspects fled the scene.
