The fatal shooting of a man at 10012 Tidwell Road about 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday (April 5) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The deceased male, Kejuan Doucett, 29, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Another man, Ronald Green, 24, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives. M. Arrington and C. Sharp reported:
Doucett was inside the Valero Food Mart at the above address with family members waiting to purchase food when Mr. Green walked up and exchanged words with him. Doucett immediately walked out, went to his vehicle and retrieved a handgun. Doucett walked quickly toward Green and fired several shots at him as he was getting into his vehicle. Green then took cover behind other vehicles in the parking lot.
As Doucett followed Green, an unknown person inside Green's vehicle fired shots from inside the vehicle and struck Doucett. Green fled the scene on foot and the unknown shooter fled the scene in Green's vehicle, described as a 2002 brown, four-door Mercury Sable. Green was later found by HFD paramedics and transported to the hospital. Doucett was also transported to the hospital where he died.
