Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 12500 Sandpiper

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 12500 Sandpiper about 2:10 a.m. today (April 5).

The victim, Crystal Rose, 27, of the above address, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Murdock and Senior Police Officer B. Evans reported:

Mr. Rose had an argument with his girlfriend during the early morning hours at the Piper’s Crossing Apartment complex at the above address.  The altercation escalated and, when she returned to the apartment, Rose assaulted her. When another resident of the complex offered to help the girlfriend leave the location, Rose became upset.  He then returned to the apartment and retrieved a firearm.

Rose returned from the apartment and threatened to shoot several other persons who had gathered outside the apartment building.  An unidentified male, also in the courtyard outside the apartment building, produced a firearm and fired it, fatally striking Rose.  HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased.

The suspect is described only as a black male, 35 to 40 years of age, with a thin build.
