| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8900 Broadway Street about 6:40 a.m. on Saturday (October 8).
The identity of the female victim, 27, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Officer M. Lares reported:
The victim was on a bicycle and traveling northbound on the sidewalk in the 8900 block of Broadway Street. The driver of a blue Peterbilt trash truck, also traveling northbound, was stopped at a light at the intersection of Broadway and Morley. As the truck driver made a right turn onto Morley, he struck the bicyclist. The driver stopped and called 9-1-1. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the truck, who remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
