Houston police are investigating the attempted murder-suicide that occurred at 5500 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 3:25 p.m. on Saturday (October 8).
The identity of the deceased female, 40, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. A male, 44, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital.
HPD Homicide Division Investigator K. Hale and Detective A. Graff II reported:
Officers responded to a report of a crash at the above address and found the female passenger deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. The male driver had also suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics transported him to the hospital in critical condition.
Officers believe this shooting is an attempted murder-suicide as there are no outward signs of bullets entering the vehicle and casings and a weapon were found inside the vehicle.
The investigation is continuing.
