Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 7900 Ley Road about 2 p.m. on Tuesday (July 11).
The identity of the deceased female, 59, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Jewell and Officer L. Le reported:
The driver of a white Peterbilt tractor trailer towing a trailer was stopped at an intersection at Ley Road and North Wayside Drive in the left turning lane. When the light turned green, the driver attempted to make a left turn and felt his truck shake when he moved forward. He then stopped and found the victim lying in the roadway.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene, was questioned and released. He did not show any signs of intoxication. The investigation is continuing.
