Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7800 Hammerly Boulevard about 10:10 p.m. last Friday (June 8).
The identity of the deceased male victim, 11, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer M. Nicotra reported:
The victim was a backseat passenger in a gray Honda Civic traveling southbound on Hammerly Boulevard as a black Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling northbound. The driver of the truck failed to yield the right of way while turning left and struck the Honda.
The victim, one of three juvenile backseat passengers not properly restrained in seat belts, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital. The two other children, 4 and 6 years old, and two adult front seat passengers, were not seriously injured.
The male driver, 26, of the Ford was not injured. He did not show visible signs of intoxication, consented to a blood draw and was questioned and released. The investigation is continuing.
