Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 7500 Cullen Boulevard about 11:50 p.m. last Friday (January 28).
The identity of the male victim, 76, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Hroch and Officer J. Louangpho reported:
The driver of a black Chevrolet Silverado C3500 was traveling northbound on Cullen at the above address when the victim (pedestrian) attempted to cross Cullen from east to west. The driver attempted to stop to avoid the victim but was unsuccessful. The driver of the Chevrolet then stopped and attempted to render first aid to the victim.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the pickup did not show any signs of intoxication and was questioned and released. The investigation will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
