Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7200 Eastex Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7200 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 11:20 a.m. on Sunday (February 18).  The identity of the deceased male, 17, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Patterson and Officer J. Leon reported:  The male was a passenger in a black Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on the freeway at the above address.  The male driver, 23, was weaving in and out of traffic when he struck a black Chevrolet Tahoe, left the roadway and struck trees in the grassy median next to the freeway.  The impact caused the victim to be ejected from the Honda.  Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim deceased.  No one in the Chevrolet was injured.The Honda’s driver was questioned, determined not to be impaired and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.  VHS/JFC   2-19-24Inc. #024227324-D
