Charges have been filed against a second suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 10015 Main Street about 6:55 a.m. on December 9, 2022.
The suspect, Kermit Ladell Johnson, 38, is charged with capital murder in the 232nd State District Court. A photo of Johnson, who is currently in federal custody, is attached to this news release.
Another suspect, Darrell Bell, 40, is charged with capital murder in the 184th State District Court. Bell’s booking photo is attached to this news release.
Both suspects are accused in the death of John Charles Gibson III, 29.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Brooks and Detective C. Flora reported:
Mr. Gibson was shot on the second floor walkway of a motel at the above address. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased. At that time, there was no known motive or suspect(s) description.
Further investigation identified Bell as a suspect in this case and he was arrested and charged on May 31, 2023.
Investigators also identified Johnson as a suspect in this case. Last Friday (Feb. 16), Johnson was charged for his role in the incident. He is in federal custody on unrelated charges.
