Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 700 South State Highway 6 about 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 20).
The identity of the male victim, 56, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Benavidez and Officer J. Broussard reported:
The victim, a pedestrian, was attempting to cross the highway at the above address when he was struck by a silver Ford Escape travelling in the southbound lanes. Paramedics were called and pronounced the man deceased at the scene.
The female driver stopped and provided a statement to investigators, stating she did not see the pedestrian until the last moment. The driver was questioned, did not show signs of intoxication and was released without charges.
The investigation is continuing.
