Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6200 North Sam Houston Parkway East

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6200 North Sam Houston Parkway East service road about 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday (February 14).

The identity of the deceased male, 46, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer N. Duval reported:

A preliminary investigation indicated the driver of a white Ford F-650 flatbed tow truck was traveling westbound near the above address on the service road behind a white Freightliner box truck.  The driver of the tow truck failed to control his speed and struck the rear of the box truck, causing it to turn to the left.  The box truck then struck a black Chevrolet Tahoe and then struck the median wall.  The Tahoe, which had been traveling westbound, continued traveling forward, spun around and came to a stop facing eastbound.

The driver of the tow truck was pronounced deceased by Houston Fire Department paramedics.  The drivers of the box truck and the Tahoe were transported to area hospitals in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing.
