Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6000 Katy Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 6000 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 2:35 a.m. today (Sept. 19).

The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Le and Officer J. Louangpho reported:

The victim was driving a blue Chevrolet Impala westbound at the above address when it is believed the vehicle struck the rear of a gray Fruehauf trailer.  Rear end damage to the Impala indicates it was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle whose driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid.  The impact caused the Impala to be engulfed in flames.  Paramedics pronounced the driver (unknown gender and age) deceased.
