| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4800 Main Street about 6:15 a.m. today (May 29).
The identity of the female victim, 81, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Officer D. Henley reported:
The driver of a white Ford Escape was traveling southbound near the above address when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a metal light pole, causing minor damage to the vehicle.
Paramedics transported the driver and the passenger (victim) to Houston Methodist Hospital where the victim was pronounced deceased. The driver, 37, was determined not to be impaired. A preliminary investigation indicated the crash may have been caused by a medical issue.
The investigation is continuing.
