Investigation into Fatal Crash at 3200 North Loop East

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 3200 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610) about 2:45 a.m. on Saturday (January 27).

The identity of the deceased male, 21, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer F. Flynn reported:

The male was driving a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound on the North Loop at a high rate of speed and failed to maintain a single lane as he entered the Eastex North entrance ramp. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a sign and a guardrail on the west side of the entrance ramp and crossed the shoulder, struck the guardrail and then landed upside down beneath the bridge. The vehicle then caught fire with the male still inside.

Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene. No other persons or vehicles were involved in this crash.

The investigation is continuing.
