Houston police have learned a man critically injured in a crash at 3100 South Richey Road about 7:45 p.m. on September 19 has died from his injuries.
The identity of the victim, 53, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Officer D. Ortega and Eastside Patrol Officer E. Ramirez reported:
The male driver, 18, of a red Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on Richey Road at a high rate of speed. As the driver went through a curve on the roadway, he failed to maintain a single lane and drove into oncoming traffic. The Silverado struck a black Acura TL head-on. A silver Honda Accord then struck the back of the Acura and a blue Ford Expedition struck the back of the Honda.
The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and the driver of the Acura (deceased male) was transported to HCA Houston Clear Lake. Officers learned the male was pronounced deceased on Saturday (October 1).
No charges have been filed in the crash at this time. The investigation is continuing.
