Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2700 Dunvale Road about 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday (March 12).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer C. Sartor reported: The male was driving a black Hyundai Sonata westbound on Westheimer Road when he ran the red light and struck a white Chevrolet Express van (traveling northbound on Dunvale Road) as it turned left onto Westheimer Road. The impact caused the male’s vehicle (Hyundai) to spin and overturn, ejecting the male from the car. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the male deceased. No one else was injured. An HPD patrol officer had observed the Hyundai traveling recklessly on Westheimer Road just prior to the crash. The officer activated his emergency equipment (lights and siren) in an attempt to catch up to the Hyundai, but was unsuccessful. The officer observed the Hyundai driver run at least two red lights just prior to running the red light at Westheimer at Dunvale. The investigation is continuing. JFC/SOA 3-13-24 Inc #036293924-D
