Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2300 Bay Area Boulevard

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2300 Bay Area Boulevard about 11:10 a.m. on Thursday (December 15).

The identity of the deceased female, 55, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer R. Saenz reported:

A white Jeep Liberty, maroon Buick Enclave, black Mercedes C30, and silver Lincoln MKX, traveling eastbound, were stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Bay Area Boulevard and Space Center Boulevard.  Preliminary investigation shows the driver of a gray Lincoln MKX failed to control speed and struck the rear of the Buick.  The impact caused the Buick to strike the silver Lincoln MKX in the next lane.  The Buick then struck the Mercedes, which caused the Mercedes to strike the Jeep.

The female driver of the Buick was pronounced deceased.  A male passenger, 80, in the gray Lincoln MKX was transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
