Houston police are investigating an auto-pedestrian fatal crash that occurred at 18600 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 9:15 p.m. on September 26.
The identity of the deceased male is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Yasin and Officer C. Ballard reported:
A gray Jeep Cherokee was traveling northbound at the above address when the vehicle struck a pedestrian standing on the main lanes. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
The male driver of the Jeep, 50, remained at the scene, showed no signs of intoxication, and was questioned and released.
The investigation is ongoing.
