Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 1400 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) that occurred about 10:35 p.m. on Thursday (October 20).
The identity of the deceased male, 30, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer J. Johnson reported:
The male was operating a black Kawasaki 300SM motorcycle and traveling eastbound on the Katy Freeway when the driver of an unknown 18-wheeler tractor trailer struck the side of the motorcycle. The male lost control of the motorcycle, went underneath the trailer and was struck by the trailer. The driver of the 18-wheeler did not stop. It appears additional vehicles possibly struck the victim on the freeway, but also did not stop to render aid. The driver of a Nissan Sentra struck the motorcycle, stopped and called police.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased. The driver of the Nissan was questioned, did not show any signs of intoxication, and was released.
Anyone with information in this case or on the identities of the unknown drivers involved is urged to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
