| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 13600 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) service road about 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday (July 27).
The identity of the deceased male, 60, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham reported:
HPD Northeast Patrol Division officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit with a red Dodge Ram pickup truck believed to be involved in a narcotics investigation in the 13400 block of Granada Street. The pickup truck struck a gray Chevrolet Tahoe in the 13600 block of the East Freeway service road. The male driver exited the pickup truck and fled on foot. During the foot pursuit, the male fell unconscious and went unresponsive.
Responding HPD patrol officers provided medical assistance until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the male to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation is continuing.
