Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 11043 Fuqua Street about 1:55 a.m. today (Jan. 31).
The identity of the male victim, 32, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Roberson reported: Two pedestrians were leaving a bar and walking through the parking lot at the above address when they were struck by a black pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid. Paramedics pronounced one of the pedestrians deceased and transported the other pedestrian, a female, 27, to a hospital for treatment of abrasions and cuts. The wanted driver, described only as a Hispanic male, was possibly intoxicated and, according to witnesses, had caused a disturbance in the parking lot prior to the crash.
