Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash at 10225 Bissonnet Street about 9:25 p.m. on April 24.
The deceased male toddler is identified as Liam Tovar, 1.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer A. Mares reported:
A family was getting into their vehicle at an apartment complex parking lot at the above address. A male toddler got away from his mother and ran into the parking lot and was struck by the vehicle of a security guard who was patrolling the area. The vehicle immediately stopped and the male security guard, 23, began to render aid. The toddler was taken to an area hospital where doctors pronounce him deceased.
Surveillance video shows the security guard’s vehicle was traveling at a low speed at the time of the crash. He showed no signs of impairment, was questioned and released.
The investigation is ongoing.
