Houston police are investigating the shooting of a child at 300 Benmar Drive about 2:30 a.m. today (July 5).
The female victim, 2, was transported to an area hospital where doctors stated she is expected to survive. Her identity is not being released at this time, pending further investigation.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives reported:
The child was a backseat passenger in a vehicle when she was struck in an apparent drive-by shooting. The victim was transported by her parents to Houston Northwest Medical Center and later by Life Fight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
HPD patrol officers located the possible scene of the shooting as well as several bullet casings in the street at the above address.
At this time, there is no known suspect(s).
