Houston police are investigating the assault of a man at 15313 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road about 11:15 a.m. today (July 7).
The victim, John Darrell Lockett, 60, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective J. De La Torre reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to an assault at a motel at the above address and learned Mr. Lockett, who lives at the motel, saw an unknown male suspect coming from his (Lockett’s) motel room. When Lockett ran up the stairs to confront the suspect, an altercation ensued. The suspect struck Lockett several times and caused him to fall down the stairs and strike his head on the concrete. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving. HFD paramedics transported Lockett to an area hospital.
The suspect is described only as a white or Hispanic male in his late 20s to early 30s, about 6 feet tall with a thin to medium build, and weighing 150 to 180 pounds with short black hair. He was wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and black, combat-style boots. He was last seen fleeing in a black, newer model sedan, possibly a four-door Kia with a partial Texas license plate FSN264.
Anyone with information in this case or on the identity of the wanted suspect is urged to contact the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
