WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: March 18, 2023 at 9:48 p.m.
WHERE: 11900 block of N. Youngwood Ln. 77043.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $184,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $8,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find a fire in the attic of a house and made an attack on the fire. A primary search was completed, and the roof was ventilated. The fire had spread from the fireplace up a wall and into the attic and another room. The American Red Cross arrived on scene to assist the residents. HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental due to the chimney flue being left closed after a fire was lit in the fireplace. Crews from Stations 2, 5, 78, 50, 57, 66, 77 and 49 responded to this incident.
