WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: April 10, 2024, at 6:16 a.m.
WHERE: 2400 block of Freeman St. 77009.
INJURIES: Two civilians transported to the hospital, one of which passed away.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $200,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming from a 1-story house with a report of victims trapped. They made an offensive attack and found two victims in the back yard. HFD EMS transported them to the hospital. One of the victims passed away at the hospital. Crews were informed another person was inside the home and conducted a thorough search, finding and removing a deceased dog. Firefighters rotated until the fire was fully extinguished and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 52 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 9, 12, 16, 15, 6, 19, 17 and 30.
