WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: April 14, 2024, at 3:55 p.m.
WHERE: 6700 block of Eastwood St. 77021.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $17,400 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $15,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within two minutes to find smoke coming from a 1-story house and made an offensive attack. The roof was ventilated, and crews extinguished the fire in the attic. Due to the structure of the attic and wood shingles found under composition shingles, they had to use an extension amount of water to ensure the fire was fully out. The fire appeared to have started from a barbeque pit or logs from the pit. 39 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 7, 26, 46, 25, 33, 35 and 40.
