WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: March 14, 2024, at 1:39 a.m.
WHERE: 14800 block of Weil Place, 77060.
INJURIES: A deceased cat was found inside the home.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE:$230,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (gas grill ignited nearby combustible materials).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find heavy fire and smoke coming from a house and spreading to nearby exposures. They made an offensive attack, conducted a primary search, and ventilated the roof. One deceased cat was found. Due to multiple exterior and interior add-on construction, collapse conditions and access issues, crews switched to a defensive attack and extinguished the fire. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 50 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 84, 30, 15, 31, 64, 15, 58, 67, 74 and Rehab 17.
