WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: December 30, 2023, at 6:34 a.m.
WHERE: 2400 block of Staples St. 77026.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.

DAMAGE: $45,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within two minutes to find a vacant house fully involved in fire and threatening to spread to a nearby structure. They cut the gate to gain access and made a defensive attack on the fire. The crews also protected the exposure from catching fire. Once the fire was controlled, they made an interior attack and extinguished the fire. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 53 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 19, 15, 8, 12, 17, 9 and 30.
